My news.
Dear Rogues,
I have been holding some big news pretty close to my chest for the last several weeks. I didn't want to prematurely tell you all something that might not come to pass--didn't want to rial up everyone for no reason. But I have every assurance that the following is true: I am not returning to Edison in the fall.
It grieves me to have to write this, but I couldn't bear springing this on you all in person. I know my emotions would not hold up--and, perhaps, yours neither. I love you all very much.
My decision to leave Edison was one that I agonized over. I began wondering if I needed a change during my recovery back in Jan/Feb. I thought that maybe my job was just too BIG, too stressful, too much. This sort of dawned on me while I was trying to orchestrate--from my hospital bed--how to keep my classes going (and most of you know how crappily that went in spite of my efforts). Then there was AcaBowl. There were freshmen parents. Most importantly, there was you--but you guys took care of yourselves pretty well, and this was huge relief.
A position opened up at StreetSchool in July. There are just 8 teachers there--only 2 English. I looked at the opening as a cosmic sign that it was time for me to move on to a different mission in a different setting. The school is located a 5-minute bike ride from my house. I was interviewed and offered the position the same day; I have been waiting on my transfer paperwork to be completed (it should be finished now, as I type) before notifying you all.
I am thrilled about this job, but I am sad about leaving you. I'm not sad about leaving Edison. It has been a great ride--no regrets. When a teacher friend of mine--actually MY senior English teacher--asked me what I will miss I paused and said, "...my kids." And I know that all hearts mend in time, so to any (of you or others) who feel betrayed, I trust that those feelings will ease.
As far as Rogue goes, I will carry it through with you for this school year, meeting every Friday as always. I feel good about that; I hope your parents will be OK with it, too. Friday we can talk about the details of the publication, etc.
(substitute abrupt ending for clever analogy here)
Heart12,
Easter

I have no words...
I know it doesn't NEED to be said, but I'll do it anyway, we love you Easter and as....heart wrenching as it is, I hope you enjoy your new venue of work.
and for that, joe, there's a new iPod in it for you! j/k. we DO still have a bajillion dollars in the RogueAccount...or at least $350ish.
Aw easter your going to be making alot of people sad, but i'm really excited for you! I just know you'll do great! :) But i'm super glad you're not going stop rogue, that would have made me even more sad about you leaving.
And we stillhave that money? that's cool. So meeting this week?
yeah! I've always wanted an iPod!!!! It's been a dream for years! I'm just beside myself!!!!
That makes me laugh greatly! :)
To be redundant, I guess, I'm glad you won't have to deal with the bitchiness that is Edison anymore Easter, but I sure will miss the trek up to the fourth floor every morning.
Okay so the only viable option for us is to buy our very own team of mail ponies with all our money. This is clearly the most logical and awesome thing we could do with 350 bajillion dollars.
Also, can we make it a goal to have a concrete date for this summer's end party on Friday? because I need time to submit a thingy to ask off.
peace out, again. see you in a week and a half. I'm getting tired of being out of town. Really tired of it. I would be willing to skip this entire week of camp just to go to Rogue n Friday. I'm pissed.
and for clarification, you can TRY. You say, "can" as if you assume you could.
oh wow....we will have to learn to stand up to stevenson....haha
but i agree easter...whatever makes you happy is what you should do.
So is Cherry Street at 3 agreed upon?
Sigh.
I'm not really sure why this announcement makes me sad, since I don't have a place at Edison anymore and it shouldn't matter, since I trust that everyone will continue to keep in touch -- and hopefully to write.
It's gonna take some serious fight coming from you guys to keep your publication going.
Easter, I wish you well at your new school. I know you'll make an impact on your new kids, just like you've had such a profound impact on our lives.
If you fail to keep in touch, there will be explosions.
I think cherry @ 3 sounds okay but i don't know yet if i can make it...
