Mouse Drama, etc.

Greetings, all:

I would have updated before now, but I've been having high drama with my mouse. Fortunately, its/my issues are resolved, so I'm back online.

Would anyone like to make a proposal for our meeting location this week? Gypsy has been working out well, but I know not everyone loves it like I do. Also, for this week's meeting I want to allocate a few minutes of time to brainstorming merchandise to make/sell for Spring Market. I would like a couple of suggestions from everyone, please. Think about crafts/art that can be made inexpensively (and by any of us--with minimal training) and that would sell for a good profit. For example, if we sell a necklace for $8 that we made with $3 of materials, I consider that a good profit; or, if we could make an item for $0.50 and sell it for $2, that would be good.

Happy Hump Day!

Alumni Friday...?

Greetings all,

As we're looking toward Friday and contemplating where to meet, may I suggest--again--Gypsy? I've learned that we have two Rogue alumni in town this Friday (Raul and Jessie), and though it's not the first Friday of the month, I've extended a hearty welcome to both of them anyway. The great news is that we could have a HUGE rogue group Friday, which would rock, but SoB cannot accomodate our size, methinks.

From what I'm hearing, every possible flu-bug is still raging at Edison, so I hope you're all well...and if you're not, I hope you're getting good care and feel better soon. Please listen to your body and don't stress it out by returning to school too soon whenever you're ill; you'll set yourself up for nothing but a set-back.

It's nearly time for my bedtime pain pill, so I'm out.

I can't stand it when people say FebYOOary.

And imagine my HORROR when I looked up "February" in an old dictionary to prove to myself there was no alternative pronunciation and found that while FebYOOary is NOT a legitimate pronunciation, it is mentioned as a bastardization (even back in the '40s when that dictionary was printed) that has grown madly as an acceptable pronunciation. What is this world coming to?!

No, I didn't hear anyone say FebYOOary at Rogue yesterday...but for some reason, it's on my mind this morning.

It was great seeing everyone yesterday. You all seemed very cohesive, and I was well pleased. I do plan on attending regularly heretofore, so I'll get to see Suzanna and Alan soon. For the near future, I would like you all to think about amending Rogue this year to just a live poetry reading night--sans publication. Thoughts? Also, we need to begin thinking about Spring Market. It has been our fundraiser for the last couple of years, and we've done well--about $225-350 in profits each year. So start thinking about stuff we can make and sell. Your jewelry always sells beautifully--esp. necklaces--but I'm open to branching out if anyone has good ideas for inexpensive, handmade goods (that would sell to midtown moms).

I need coffee.

Whip it! Whip it real good!

If you missed the Devo allusion from the title of my post, it's ok; you're too young. But in any event I want you to understand my sentiment: You all need to WHIP IT into shape and get to this website regularly and PLAN AHEAD for meetings. Grrr. I know my excuse is being away from home, but I hearby vow to STOP making that excuse and come to the site more regularly and help boost spirit and morale to ensure good attendance at weekly meetings. I want to come to next week's meeting. I think I can manage it--if we do Gypsy, remember? So let's start thinking about that and making proper plans.

I sincerely hope you're all doing well. I hope Jamie's dad is better--update us and let us know. I'm doing well--got discharged both from home health care and home physical therapy. I start out-patient phys. therapy next week at the hospital. It's gonna be brutal. But I'll get my legs back, damn it! 100%!

The weather is beautiful today--and beautifuller tomorrow, so GET OUTSIDE, do some writing, and live life passionately.

Heart12,
