Huh.

So--no one posted an opinion of whether we should use some $Rogue to buy markers and paint for making posters. AND no one made any posters. AND because this Friday is a non-school day, the reading will be non-BoDable. AND we need to figure out where/when to meet. AND please don't drift away on me now!
The party was good and good for morale--but then no one makes signs like they said they would? And no one answers the ONE question I posted about buying supplies to make colorful posters even when you all agreed they attract attention better? Damn, folks.
I'm thinking I NEED new staff who will be less yo-yo in style, yo. You guys are flakey. Flaky. Flake-y. Too unreliable.

Word.

Reminded

Yes, now 8 hours after the latest-running Rogue party ever, I am reminded how important parties are for our little group. We jokingly call it bonding, but it's good magic--whether it's a trip through Oxley or awkward-conversation-laden pumpkin carving in my backyard at 11:00p by the light of plastic Christmas decorations. I feel better and more comfortable putting out the application notices now. Dramatically better and more confident.

Question: Do we want to spend some $Rogue to buy markers or paint to make application notices?

2day's da day: Itz pahti tyme!

Ah, one of our longest standing rogue traditions: The Halloween Party. Our first, I think, was at Raul's house--then Jessie's for the last two years. Now we're at my house, and it's eithing going to be F-U-N, or F-you! Yeeuh.

Those who want to go on the pumpkin patch romp need to meet in the HS parking lot at 5:00p. I think Joe is picking up Margaret & Bailey (if Bailey's costume will allow). And I can pick up KT on my way (you down widdat, KT?). We'll get a pumpkin for our punkin (Suzanna), as she requested on the previous post. And we'll hold off on the carving until Wade arrives. We can do it by firelight in the back yard around 8:30p.

Be sure and bring your snacks! As of our meeting yesterday we had the following items on the menu: wormy jello, mucous wrapped apples, maggoty cheetoes, cupcakes with vomit icing, blood cola, and toxic s'mores. I'll have plenty of bile coffee and Dr. Pus on hand.

...and if you've got a camera, bring it! We need fresh rogue pix of fresh rogue costumes.

Friday Rogue & Saturday Party

OK. For tomorrow's reading/meeting, we need a location. It has been suggested that we go to Gardner's Used Books at about 44th/Mingo to try out their coffee shop. It's fine with me, but we need a group decision.

This morning, KT & I cleaned up some of the debris at the front of the room left from last night, but there is still a lot to do. The pot needs to be washed out, and some decor items need to be put back in their places. I expect this to get done tomorrow by people OTHER THAN KT & ME without my having to remind anyone.

One of the things I want to talk about tomorrow before our reading is participation; I also want to talk about PARTY SNACKS and pumpkin patches. Woo hoo! Come with your thoughts on these topics. Be sure you have your two poems. It's BoDable if you don't. Not being prepared for the party is also BoDable...so start thinkin' if you haven't! It'll be fun!

Creeps Update

I received word this morning from Ms. Harrington that only 3 booth workers get into the carnival free. I named Katie, Margaret, and Joe. Bailey will aready be at Creeps due to her involvement with drama. Wade is working and Kristen is awol, so they won't be there. I released Suzanna from the event so she can do make-up work from her absences last week.

Note to Katie, Margaret, and Joe: Ms. Harrington said we do not have to attend the booth 100% of the time; we can leave to go into the show. You can bring homework with you to work on in the booth, too, if you need.

We are a GO to sell coffee...but I'm thinking we need to do the poetry caricatures for free--just for publicity. We can accept donations/tips, but I think we've got a better chance at making money w/ coffee sales.

Rubber and Road are Friends

Did anyone read the Frog & Toad books? Catch the reference? Hmmm...

OK. This is the week when the rubber meets the road. I would like to see some people in the mornings (as life allows) and afternoons. I know there are conflicts; that's OK. Just please come by when you can and ASK what needs to be done. Before I go on, let me give you my schedule conflicts:
(1) Monday after school--I'll be with AcaBowl in Pryor for Area seeding
(2) Tuesday after school--I've been subpoena'd as a witness for a feuding neighbors trial

For Carnival we basically need to agree on a style of dress (consistency, please, so we look 'together'), and we need to job out things like (1) who'll ready the coffee/supplies/pots (2) who'll ensure we have decor for the booth (3) who'll make sure we have ambiance (music, bongos, etc.) and (4) who'll be in charge of taking money, making change, and having pens/paper available for the troupe of writers (remember: Poetry Caricatures)

We get to breathe on Thursday, and Friday we get our regular reading--which propels us onward to Saturday night.

For the Party everyone needs to be costumed. PLEASE COME IN COSTUME. It's much more festive if everyone is dressed when they arrive. Please also bring your digicameras so we can get a lot of photos and upload some to our photobucket account (I hope I can remember the password...).
Bring (1) Snacks--keep it simple: chips/dips/cookies, etc.
and (2) Pumpkin for carving.
I'll have beverages (Dr. P, water, coffee, tea), plates/cups/napkins and s'mores fixins.

...idea: Would anyone be interested in a Saturday late morning roadtrip to the Bixby pumpkin patches? It could be a good photo-op and a lot of fun... I could fit 4 in my car + me if anyone is interested.

Comment so I know you were here...

October and all

It's fall break. At last. That's wonderful news!

As for tomorrow, there is a "break" Rogue @ Camille's on 15th St. I think the time frame was noonish or one-ish. Please pin that down a little more carefully so people can decide if their days will allow for it.

As for the rest of October, well, here you have it:

Tuesday, 10/23: After school prep/planning for 10/24 Carnival
Bring: Ideas

Wednesday, 10/24: Carnival! I think we'll need to either hang after school or be back by 6p.
Bring: Poetic clothes & Black berets

Saturday, 10/27: Rogue Halloween @ my house...let's say 6:30 - 10:00ish.
Bring: Yourself IN COSTUME, something to snack on, and a pumpkin to carve. Unless you're Joe who's bringing some Death Sheep movie. Geez.

It's friggin' October

Hello dears,

Umm...it's OCTOBER! I've been busy; you've been busy. We're all pretty much sucking at getting things on a calendar--or getting a calendar together at all. So here's how we change that: Mandatory (BoDable) meeting in my room Thursday morning, 8:15a. I'd have it be sooner, but this will give people a chance to figure out rides, etc. Come get your perma-pass before then. At Wade's request, they'll be business card sized. I like that idea because you can keep 'em in your wallet. You'll get one, folks.

At our meeting, our goals are to plan our Carnival activity, Halloween party, and Rogue publication and live reading '07; additionally, we need to discuss recruitment. At some point in the near future we must review BoDs, because a couple of people are either on or nearing probation (Dun-dun-dunnnnn).

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend. Stop by tomorrow or soon and get your perma-pass. And be sure you comment that you were here (and to prove that you read the entire entry).
